Jackson Pollock
"Jackson Pollock" . The doodle is as much self explanatory and a 'careful' gazing will reveal the word "Google".
About the painter read the following and you may have an idea about him
“ | A dripping wet canvas covered the entire floor. . . . There was complete silence. . . . Pollock looked at the painting. Then, unexpectedly, he picked up can and paint brush and started to move around the canvas. It was as if he suddenly realized the painting was not finished. His movements, slow at first, gradually became faster and more dance like as he flung black, white, and rust colored paint onto the canvas. He completely forgot that Lee and I were there; he did not seem to hear the click of the camera shutter. . . My photography session lasted as long as he kept painting, perhaps half an hour. In all that time, Pollock did not stop. How could one keep up this level of activity? Finally, he said 'This is it.' | ” |
“ | Pollock’s finest paintings… reveal that his all-over line does not give rise to positive or negative areas: we are not made to feel that one part of the canvas demands to be read as figure, whether abstract or representational, against another part of the canvas read as ground. There is not inside or outside to Pollock’s line or the space through which it moves…. Pollock has managed to free line not only from its function of representing objects in the world, but also from its task of describing or bounding shapes or figures, whether abstract or representational, on the surface of the canvas.(Karmel 132) |

The Millionaire
Slumdog Millionaire has at last returned to India where it was directed. Despite being the backdrop of the film it was released in India so late. The story is all about a dweller Javed who has made it to the final question of”Kaun Banega Crorepati" .But the police accuses him of cheating and asks him how a slum dweller could know all the questions on the show. The following film is how he explains his experiences of childhood, about his family and so on. The film is really touching and has been successful in reserving a special corner in the hearts of people all round the globe. After being awarded a host of Golden Globe awards for a no of categories, it is all set to bag a bunch of Oscars too after being nominated in 10 categories. It is a proud moment for Indians as
A. R Rehman is the 1st Indian to be nominated.
However, it is only the brighter side, which the media has finally realized and has depicted it on the Silver screen sensitively .But on the other side of the coin the situations have changed for sure, but even these changes are not as satisfactory. Many still die due to Poverty, malnourishment and many a times it is the greed and illiteracy which claims the life of these Slum dwellers. Only like a White Tiger, children like Javed are born once in a whole generation. They fight against the odds and rise to fame . BUT that’s only once in a whole generation and a lot has to be still done.
You might be wondering how i swayed the topic! (I aspire to be like Marc Antony of Julius Caesar)
Signing off with a heavy heart

The White Tiger
Written by Aravind Adiga it is an excellent piece of literature describing the experiences of a person who is born in Laxmangarh (a small village near Gaya). The story is in the form of a letter to MR Premier - Wen Jiabao. Balram Halwai is the White Tiger of the book's title - a title he earns by virtue of being deemed the smartest boy in his village, a community deep in the "Darkness" of rural India. Beginning from his roots in the village he slowly explains the scene of a classical Indian Village and shows how The India Shining and India Rising has AFFECTED the village . The author is the son of a rickshaw puller , and vividly describes the ideal village family consisting of a single earning member who is sucked out of life from the day he starts earning and he finally dies of Tuberculosis .And not to forget the Water Buffalo which occupies a pivotal position in the family and is well taken care of even when the whole family is struggling to make the both ends meet.
Well then it tells about the landlords and how they are the only ones to progress in the India Shining. Then as the author s into his prime, he is also forced into the labour market by the family members . Firstly, he gets the job of a "Human Spider" in a teashop but gets a break when he gets the job of a Chauffeur in the house of a landlord of his own village . The family consists of the the landlord a.k.a The Stork as he was called in the village,
Mr .Mukesh a.k.a The mongoose having a typical landlord mentality And Mr Ashok and his wife Pinky . Mr Ashok is sympathetic to his employees. Balram is the taken to Delhi , where he sees how his employers bribe the ministers . He vibrantly describes the difference between the rich and the poor in Delhi and describes how being a loyal servant he experiences each and every emotion of his employer and is affected by it . But he slowly realizes that in the existing system he can't prosper and progress and can't unleash the potential of the entrepreneur lying latent in him. Although he sees his master Mr. Ashok as a fatherly figure among his family of misers . But after deep reflection he decides to murder his master . So, one fine day when he is taking his master to the parliament to bribe the ministers he kills his master like The Ancient Mariner kills the albatross in the poem The Rime Of the Ancient mariner .And thereafter starts the rise of the entrepreneur as he fleds to Bangalore .
The narrative is very detailed and gives very detailed description of the city life and the ways of people in the city from short skirts to the substandard magazines like Murder Weekly , whores and what not. It describes the typical habits of a driver. Despite from being sarcastic and satirical the book is also witty and seems to be laughing upon the india shining and mourns upon the political corruptness in the country.
I forgot to tell the book also bagged the Booker prize for the year 2008.

Satyam fiasco
Ramalingam Raju CEO of the company, 53, on Wednesday confessed in a letter to Satyam's board of directors to inflating profits for years with "fictitious" assets and non-existent cash. Raju said that about $1.04 billion, or 94% of the cash listed in assets at the end of the company's second quarter in September, was fictitious.
Satyam had earned itself a nice reputation and its employees were offered discounts everywhere in the city of Nawabs - Hyderabad. But this big billion fraud from a country like India and that too within a company like Satyam has come like bolt from the lightnining . Satyam is(was) one of the Fortune 500 companies and is(was) the 4th largest IT firms in India.
God help us in hard times !

Fossil smuggling
Earlier terrorism and now Fossil Smuggling will India ever get rid of problems. One one hand there are officers like Late. Hemant Karkare , Late. Vijay Salaskar who laid their lives for the sake of other countrymen and on the other hand are people like this who neither regret nor fear selling India's heritage . Its really a petty condition.
Da Vinci Code
Well the name needs no introduction at all . Most of you must be familiar with it either in the form of the Movie or the book.
I read the book sometime back and I'm trying to recollect some of the outline features of the book .
Well this book authored by Dan Brown is definitely a very fine piece of mystery literature . His style of writing ensures thrills and Adrenaline gushes at almost every point of the story.
The story revolves around a a writer or probably a researcher Robert Langdon & a cryptographer
Sophie Neveu & her grandfather Jacques Sauniere's mysterious death.
The book starts with the infamous FACTS page & the Prologue that gives the introduction to the story. The story begins with the mysterious murder of Jacques Sauniere .by an albino. The albino called Silas is a member of Opus Dei and is on a mission to find The Holy Grail. Jacques Sauniere dies in a mysterious condition , with clothing stripped he lays down in a position resembling the Painting Vitruvian Man. The following message is found near his body
13-3-2-21-1-1-8-5
O, Draconian devil!
Oh, lame saint!
P.S. Find Robert Langdon
Jacques Sauniere as revealed later in the story is a member of the Secret society "Priory of Sion." which is trying to preserve the Holy Grail
Cryptographers are called and in the team of Cryptographers is Agent Sophie who deciphers the
message partially runs away with Robert Langdon who is called in the museum by the Police Officer "Fache". The message kicks off the plot and with the help of this message the the murder
of Jacques Sauniere. By finding hints from the message they find a cryptex and go to professor
Teabing's (a friend of langdon) house. The story thereafter is full of ups and downs and full of adrenaline gushes!
From tracing the evolution of the word "horny", evolution and nature of christianity and nature of the Holy Grail , the story is absolutely exciting and a must for all.
And don't forget the Secret Feminie i.e. Mary Magdalene
Well just to inform the holy grail is believed to be the cup from which Christ drank from during the last supper.

Its Going darker and darker here...
All the dogs did bark
the ghosts did shriek
and the doors did creak.
In a dusty, empty lane ,
the creatures lay slain.
Walking down slowly ,
weaker grew my sight.
The big burning flies on the roadside
gave a pale shimmering light.
The sleep had cast a spell
which made the silence fell.
Sluggish grew my pace ,
oh! sweet pain given by those
thirsty mortals on my face.
the radiance grew dimmer
and died after a painful shimmer.
Lay open the highway to hell
the blood parched creatures did yell.
the clinch that was on my feet.
deep under was i pulled a million feet .
in a tarn with blood up to 3 inches deep ,
Swam devils with teeth like dagger.
Zombies did descend along the ladder.
Next ran the stiletto through my skin ,
tearing apart each and every inch.
The scarlet did ran, mirroring a crying mother,
my soul did cry seeing the agonizing slaughter.
with the flesh ripped, and heart eaten away,
i became a creature like thee,
and rapturous did the devils feel .
With incantation , a devil
in the eternal self did preside...
i won't appreciate any negative comments on this post.
